Stare Juchy and its surroundings lie in the central part of the Elk Lake District – in the Łaśmiadzki Lake District, also called the Elk Proper District. The local landscape is the result of the activity of the glacier during the last phase of Baltic (north-Polish) glaciation, which ended about 14,000 years ago. The melting Scandinavian Iceland left behind numerous off-road forms, most often of which are visible different types of lakes and lakes. Geomorphologists also distinguish moraine hills, sandras, os, kems, etc.

„The memorabilia” of the glacier are also several hundred meters thick layers of sedimentary rocks. Locally they also contain large amounts of rocks. Wojciech Kętrzyński, an outstanding researcher of Mazuria history, wrote: “Stone on stone, stone under stone, and on these stones again stone, stone”. Melchior Wańkowicz, a well-known Polish, noted in the book “On the Tracks of Smętka”: he noted: “A folk joke divides Masuria into stony (near Orzysz), garbate (near Gołdap) and sandy – […] under Szczytno”. Thus, Stare Juchy lies on the border of Masuria “stony” and “tanned”.

The glacial landscape initially grew tundra, which with the warming of the climate was replaced by taiga-type forests, and over time mixed forests. Each of these plant formations was accompanied by a slightly different animal world.

In the Masuria landscape, large overhead boulders, which are considered natural monuments, deserve special attention. One of them is a Yuzk boulder lying on the outskirts of the forest behind the former land estate. It is a large lump of grey granitoid with a circumference of about 10.6 m. Its dimensions: length 4.5 m, width 2.25 m, height above the ground area 1.4 m.
